You can also use iTunes to make ringtones, text tones. I'm at work, but Google ringtones iTunes or

1) No need shouting, make sure that CapsLock is off.
2) "Good" is a matter of opinion, so any agreement would be
coincidental.
3) There are apps that let you create your own ringtones, so you
might not even need to ask.
4) iOS seems to limit the duration of ringtones to 40 seconds and
that of reminders to 4. At least for reminders that have been imported
from other devices, as all of mine are.
Digressing:
5) I have created tones of my own. I had done so for my Windows
Mobile device, and I have transfered them (truncated) to my iPhone,
using one of the ringtone apps that I acquired for free (thanks to
AppsGoneFree).
6) I had used Band-in-a-Box (on a Windows computer, not a related
app) to compose tunes to my specifications.
- I wanted a ringtone that would draw my attention. Only mine, and
not disturb any situation that I might be in. So I'm using a bluegrass
piece.
- As I use reminders as an alarm clock, I wanted a reminder tone that
would wake me up, in a positive way. So I'm using some equivalent of
"When the saints", with a saxophone playing the lead. I can only say:
it's a pity that iOS allows a mere 4 seconds. So I keep synchronizing
two Windows Mobile devices beside my iPhone and iPad...
So (6) contains my understanding of "good" tones.
