Either your WAP (base station, router) is running amok or you have some heavy traffic on your network.
First, see if your WAP has any diagnostics which will let you see how much traffic is on the network. If nothing else observe the light activity on your router. Try shutting down every device on the network except the WAP and phone. Watch the traffic to see if it drops significantly when one device is shutdown. After that, disconnect the Internet connection from your router.
