[apple-iphone] Selling to Gazelle: Do you really get the price quoted?

I have the iPhone 4S-64GB, which is selling for $399. My iPhone is in pristine condition, and Gazelle is offering $351 for it. There's only a $48 difference between what they're offering and the cost of a new one. Also, they're guaranteeing this price until Oct. 1, after the iPhone 5 comes out, when the 4S will be worth less.

How can they do that?

Do they routinely say there's something wrong with your machine and change the offer? does anyone have experience with this or otherwise know about this?
