 That's what I did that didn't work, but I think I may have it fixed. I went to settings, sounds and put it on silent there. It worked. Then I turned it back up and went back and then turned it down on the side and it still worked. I hope it fixed it for good. Thanks everyone.

Betty, Wake the phone and flip the switch on the side while looking at the screen. You should get a picture of a bell and the words "Ringer Silent" on the screen. If not, the switch may be dirty or bad.

That's very strange.  If you haven't already, you might want to try a "forced reboot", by holding the home and power buttons until you see the apple logo appear on the screen.

So, Betty, you're saying even with the "ring/silent" hardware switch on the side of the phone in the "silent" position (with the red color showing), your phone still rang?  I just checked on my 8, running iOS 11.0.2, and this feature acts as it's supposed to.  What model phone do you have?

My phone still rings when it's on mute. I learned this in the movie yesterday. Anybody else having this problem since updating?
