One thing that can really be a drain is a bad cellular signal.
As for the battery, it's more important I think how it's been used. My 4 has a better battery than my 4s. The 4 has button problems so it's used only as a iPod. My 3 won't hold a charge more than a couple days. My 7 works just fine. I'm trying to recharge it at 40%. Some say that's better, I don't know but I'm a heavy user on podcasts and streaming. 10 hours a night.
