Absolutely. The transition from transformers to switched power supplies has saved a lot of energy and thus money and pollution.
Even switching power supplies draw some power when plugged in but not in use.
We can all do better. The latest estimates I have seen show between 1 and 2% of power generated in the US is wasted in chargers that aren't charging anything.
1% of 360,000 thousand megawatt-hours per month is 3,600 thousand megawatt-hours per month - the equivalent of four complete power plants.
If you aren't using it, unplug it.
