ok thanks. Looks like I have to wait 90 days.. what a drag.. and then figure out what my old apple id was.. I find it very confusing as they ask you for an email address and this becomes your apple id. so when I switched my email to a more current one, I guess my apple id also switched. I have to be very careful not to purchase anything on the new apple id then and then revert back to my old email/apple id so that everything is returned to its original state. I think this is very bad on apple's part as it is confusing and goes against what they advocate... that their software and product experiences are easy and intuitive.... not, in this particular case.
