I had battery problems too. The battery does not last forever.
Click on the battery icon in the upper right of the screen and see if there is a message about a battery problem.
Another place to look is the System Profiler. To easily access the SP go to the Apple icon in the upper left corner. Click and access About This Mac then click on the More info button. Under Hardware go to the Power option. Look for Battery Information / Health Information. You should see the battery cycle count and health status.
My battery failed after five years. It was replaced and everything works just fine.
