There are lots of video's on YouTube on how to replace the battery.  You take out the two Pentalobe screws at the bottom.  You will have to get a screwdriver on line as it is special.  The screen pulls out from the bottom and you will see the battery.

[apple-iphone] Voice alerts instead of beeps/tones ?

I have a hard time keeping a track of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, differing email accounts.  I seem to get an endless amount of mystery beeps during my day.  Some go to notification center, some do not.  It occurred to me that perhaps that I could create some custom alerts that simply say "tweet", Gmail, Facbook, Imessage, etc etc.  It would make things easier.  Anyone done this with an Iphone 5 ?

[apple-iphone] ShutterRemote problem

I just bought an iStabilizer Shutter Remote.  It is a blue tooth device that enables you to remotely trigger the camera shutter for taking photos and videos, as well as many other features.

My purpose in getting it is to mount the camera on a tripod and remotely start and stop video recording.

However, when I press the camera button on the remote, after putting the iPhone in video mode, the screen goes out of focus, the little red light at the top indicates recording, the timer goes and music plays.  But it is not really recording anything and I can't stop it.  I have to power off the iPhone to get rid of the out of focus screen in the camera app and stop it from recording.

When I use it to take a picture, it takes the picture but then plays music from the music app.  I think this is the problem.  When the music is playing, the video recording just hangs.

The remote makes use of the fact that pressing the volume up button triggers the camera shutter or video start/stop.  It works fine not using the remote.

This is on an iPhone 5S iOS 7.1.1

Any ideas?

[apple-iphone] Re: iFixit

Their site has really good pictures so I didn't take any.  Two screws and the display can be pulled off with a strong suction cup.  Three or four screws for a small metal plate, a few connectors to unplug and the display is free, then three screws for battery connector covers, unplug, plug in a new one, put it together and the phone was good as new.  The hardest part was prying the old battery out because they use a lot of adhesive.  The new battery needed charging.  And I needed some clear double sticky tape because the swollen battery split my display glass from backing.  Now it is good as new.

I do need to give a disclaimer - my daughter saw the swollen battery and asked "can I cut it up"?  That is the precise reason Apple really doesn't want people changing batteries themselves - stupidity like that!  LiIon batteries can be DANGEROUS.  My answer was an emphatic NO - after which I found a qualified battery recycling service.

Did you happen to take pictures of how to get the case off?  I have been wondering how it's done.  I'm glad to know it can be done personally.

[apple-iphone] iFixit

Just replaced a swollen iPhone 5 battery all by myself - these guys are great, they sent all tools required with the battery.  All went smoothly except the swollen battery had split my display from its underlying metal bracket.  Under 10 minutes and the battery was replaced, the phone worked great!

No affiliation with them just a great way to do it yourself and save a lot of money, time, and aggravation.

My brother's 3Gs iPhone had sometimes shut down due to low battery, but when he plug in to the ac outlet it was crushed down. When I checked it, the enviromemt seems that it needs to be reprogram! I followed the basic instruction until it says, "connect to iTunes" when checking the device to itunes, it was undetected! I have no idea what would be the next steps? One thing more, the battery kept on charging...

Anybody could figured it out to bring back the fone into its working state?

Thanks,
Erlir

[apple-iphone] WiFi FaceTime Disconecting

Hi all,

I have been using an Iphone 4s just for face time on my Wi Fi network. It was working great at one time and now it disconnects as soon as the other person connects. I have tried to connect to a few friends and have had the same results of diconnecting as soon as the other party accepts.
Any ideas what I messed up?

                Thanks, Rod
