It is an arms race between Apple and the third party shops. They can gain a few weeks at best by changing the screws - but type "micro-pentalobe" and dozens of sources ranging from $3 to $7 show up. Overnight shipping at additional charge.
There is nothing new in this, or unique to Apple. Weird screws have always been a tactic to keep people out of consumer goods - and it always fails for the exact same reason: third parties will always be out there with tools very quickly.
With a bit of prowess, anybody can take a file to the shaft of an existing tool and come up with a micro-pentalobe on their own, or at least something that will get the screws out. That is what I did. It took about five minutes with a file designed for precision work.
