> I'm awaiting delivery of an iPad2, WiFi only. A friend of mine said that you can use an iPhone as a hot spot. Can this be done without the AT&T hot spot option? I don't want to lose my unlimited data on that so have no desire to change plans to add the hot spot feature. I can live with the WiFi iPad2, no prob, but if there's some way to get online in an emergency, that'd be good.

Have you ever gone to AT&Ts website, logged in to your account, and looked at the historical usage display?
Only a small fraction of Unlimited users ever actually use over 2 GB in any month.
When having an iPhone hotspot became useful to me, I switched from Unlimited and have never looked back.
