They aren't apps per se. If u look at your settings for messages, u should see info about
iMessage. It is built into the messengng app. I had the same question!
Regarding notification...it's a setting also. If u swipe ur screen from top to bottom, u should see what's in it. Do a few swipes....it does take some getting used to!
