What strikes me is that the iPhone has a pro camera, fab screens, folks load it with tons of apps to fill their needs of the day, it is your calendar, reminder, music player, password keeper, credit card keeper along with a ton of other features like texting and FaceTime like the Jetsons...basically a small computer that fits in your pocket. Oh, and you can make calls on it!
My MacBook Pro doesn't do some of the things this portable computer does with ease.

Is it the smaller size of the I phones that makes people gripe about the price?

Yes, if you want the top of the line computer/phone you will have to pay the asking price.

P. S.

The prices of some of the other phone makers are just as expensive as Apple or shy by 20 bucks.

Personally, I enjoy Apple products because they are pretty much hassle free and if something does go wonky, the issue is solved quickly through AppleCare.

Smartphones have become a necessity, and the need will only intensify.

I dislike the cheap, greedy thing that Apple's become, but that's life.

Every three years seems reasonable. Once you can no longer upgrade your operating system, it's time to pay the Mafia.
