I used a complicated method shown on Google to reinstall iPhoto on my Mac when it got upgraded to Photos which I do not find as nice as iPhoto. Then when I bought my new Mac and restored it from the old one I was pleasantly surprised to find that iPhoto worked on it perfectly (except for the delete option).
