Re: [apple-iphone] about that irksome bar...

When I make a screenshot with our new iPhone XR a bothersome white bar appears at the bottom of the screenshot.

There's a white bar at the bottom of the screenshot because there's a white bar at the bottom of the screen that you are taking a screenshot of.

no, when i pinch the original image to get the desired proportions the white "home indicator" bar appears only AFTER i execute the screenshot command...it appears a nanosecond before the shutter activates, thus tainting the screenshot...unbelievably irritating!...i'm not the only one irked by this unnecessary, intrusive feature.

Do you mean you are starting with an *image*, then enlarging it, and taking a screenshot of *that*?

Or is that not exactly what you're doing?

Yes, that is what I am doing… note that this problem occurs with an iPhone XR… It does not occur with older iPhones, such as my 6s… I suspect Jim is using an older phone.

I am using a iPhone XS Max

Sometimes I can get images included  here; I'm going to try.

If I look at an image in Photos, I first get the image, with white areas above and below, with controls in them, and all this shows up in a screenshot, as they should.

If I tap on it, I can make the white areas go away:

If you look closely, there is the grey bar at the bottom, in the black area. If I enlarge it, the bar becomes more obvious:

But, if I just wait a few seconds, the bar fades out, and is not there to record on a screenshot:

Does this help?
