Do you mean you are starting with an *image*, then enlarging it, and taking a screenshot of *that*?
Or is that not exactly what you're doing?
Yes, that is what I am doing… note that this problem occurs with an iPhone XR… It does not occur with older iPhones, such as my 6s… I suspect Jim is using an older phone.
Sometimes I can get images included here; I'm going to try.
If I look at an image in Photos, I first get the image, with white areas above and below, with controls in them, and all this shows up in a screenshot, as they should.
If I tap on it, I can make the white areas go away:
If you look closely, there is the grey bar at the bottom, in the black area. If I enlarge it, the bar becomes more obvious:
But, if I just wait a few seconds, the bar fades out, and is not there to record on a screenshot:
