After that experience, I'd probably not trust the Apple calendar.I've had a good experience for several years with this:Tiny Calendar Pro by Fengge https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tiny-calendar-pro/id455210120?mt=8

My iPhone 6 plus and Outlook in the current MS Office 365 have always communicated perfectly well, and, indeed, on sending test entries, they went between Outlook and the device, in both directions, perfectly well, iCloud being the only possible link. But the test entries did not appear in iCloud, and, indeed, a lot of other data on both the PC and the phone, did not appear in the intermediary iCloud Calendar. Quite incomprehensible. A Repair of iCloud for Windows made no difference, so I uninstalled iCloud, being careful to save the data for Calendar, Contacts etc. The result is chaotic. the new iCloud seems to have renamed calendars, and, while I can identify (after a lot of work) which name refers to which calendar, the system is not working. Entries in the Outlook version of what claims to be (and appears to be) the iCloud calendar do not appear in iCloud, and now they do not get to the iphone either. I am seriously wondering whether to save all the calendars with names I can distinguish them by, uninstall Outlook, and reinstall both Outlook and iCloud (with the iphone switched off). As I may still find that iCloud contains no data, I am looking for advice before I do anything else.
Incidentally, the iCloud addin in Outlook is activated - I checked before writing this, and the iCloud menu in Outlook Calendar looks normal (apart from new files with new names)
