Thank you both Sandy and Dennis for responses. I think I probably need to completely remove all traces of iCloud from the PC. The behaviour suggests that Outlook still thinks it is somewhere! I cannot, on the Apple site, find total removal of iCloud instructions. Is it somewhere?
Having said that, the Apple Calendar in my iphone does seem to have become unreliable anyway. My iPhone 8 plus is a fairly recent purchase, and is fully updated. Can it be that my longstanding Calendar has entries that recent Apple software and hardware does not quite like?
I would like to ensure total removal of iCloud and rely only on itunes to sync, if I can.
