I love it when people mess up the quotation.

Morgan is afraid to upgrade his iPhone 4.

I, the other Brent, upgraded my 3GS without a hitch. It runs pretty fast, most of the time. But now that you mention it, it does seem to hang a bit at times.

I had attributed it to a 2.5 year old phone, with about 150 apps on it. Like battery usage, I have turned off many of the apps and notifications to conserve resources, like CPU cycles, and I try to keep about 20% free space so it can work. So your mileage may vary.

And some of it may be the lag of cellular data transfer.

Certain apps have always been dogs, like bring up an article in NYTimes, but it does seem slower than before.

I guess it might be time to remove some of the 80% of apps that I almost never use, and lean it out to mostly just the 20% I use weekly, or need for emergency. I don't travel, or need some of the apps for work, like I used to. Then I could tell if were the load or the new iOS.

BTW, one of the biggest battery depleters is looking for a 3G signal. Since I spend most of the day in a commercial building with a metal roof, I have poor 3G signal coverage, and even occasional Edge signal coverage for most of the day. And for 99% of the time Edge is more than satisfactory for my needs, so I have 3G turned off, unless I have a specific need for it.

I still think Morgan should upgrade. Especially since it is just FUD that is keeping him from upgrading and not a specific definable issue he is worried about. Every new OS and hardware has some Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt as to if they will have issues. And most do have minor issues that are quickly resolved, but that get way to much discussion. Generally because people haven't done their homework, and that includes expectations of capabilities that were never there or even hinted at.

Apologies for the length.

Brent
