Bill; I travel a lot and my wife and I use iMessage quite a bit & since I don't have a text plan I pay close attention to when my iMessage becomes a text. And I have never been prompted when iMessage fails and is sent as a text. While I can't be 100% I would have to think in all the times at least one or would have been on my end.
