Everything you have said is true. Now take it one step farther. From the other side of the mall and get the route from there to your car. Google maps will route using streets. Not across the parking lot.
In a mall parking lot I can find my car without GPS. But at Disney World or Candlestick park it would be helpful to have a route across the parking lot instead of following the blue dot.
