Background:
Got a new, unlocked 4S last week from Apple. Went to ATT and got micro sim
card. When I got home, I noticed that I couldn't send picture messages to
anyone not on iOS5 (will only send MMSes using iMessage). Went back to ATT
which switched out sim card, played with settings in the system and with
settings on my phone. After resetting network settings as a last thing to
try, I was able to send an MMS but by the time I got home, I was unable to
again. I tried resetting the network settings again and turning off all the
options the ATT service rep did but it did not work. Went back to ATT and
they said there was nothing left for them to try, that it's the phone and to
go to Apple. Drove to Apple who said it's probably a software issue, to
reset the phone back to factory settings, set up the iPhone as new and sync
with iTunes. I did that, MMS worked but I restored from the backup when I
saw all the pictures missing and all the settings I was going to have to
re-do but didn't have the time then. To my surprise, MMS started working
but then stopped again after sending 2 MMSes.
My question:
After setting up the phone as new, I'd like to at least restore text
messages and pictures without restoring anything else. Can this be done? I
have backed up the phone to both iCloud and my PC (Win7). I read about
iBackupBot and installed it. I was able to restore the text messages using
it but not pictures. Any suggestions appreciated.
