I did and still do have that problem on a old 4s running old iOS. It seems to me podcasts are not deleting from the phone even though they look like they are deleted from the app iCatcher! That phone is a secondary phone now as I have a 7.
I'll check out the article Pat supplied the link for as well. I tried many reboots and hard resets to no avail.
