I had that problem a few months ago. I not sure exactly how I solved it, but I believe it was changing the notifications. I had the emails displayed on my lock screen (which I could see the first couple of lines of the message), but when I went to read them they were blank. I stopped one of the notifications of the email, not displaying not he lock screen, and I believe that solved the problem.
