Thanks but that must be a different version of Image Capture then I have. I
am running 6.1.

When I open Image capture under "About Image Capture" (where preference
is normally located) There is a pull down menu call service. There is no
option "select no application" there

very strange

I did find something similar in iphoto preferences but it did not help
