Thanks Sue - I clearly had accidentally hit the button before taking the clip. It is so easy (and so infuriating) to do that sort of thing with touch screens

Time lapse is for speeding up slow events. It would be used to take a video of an opening flower or growing mushroom, things like that. Compresses something that takes a long time into a few seconds without using a lot of video.
