Not remembering how the touch screen works, could it possibly have a residue left over from the screen protector that you previously had on it? A residue could change the conductivity of the screen surface, and if I remember correctly, Invisible Shield brand uses a liquid to mount the plastic.

And yes, I have wondered how Apple got away from learning or adjustment step of a touch screen, the old ones had the user go through.

I'm using Siri and clumsily editing the text. Ironically as I was doing this I sent this message prematurely, TWICE. So there something this glass screen will do if you just breathe on it or hold the edges of the phone!
