[apple-iphone] Crazy to buy an iPhone 3???

 

Would it make any sense to try out the "smartphone experience" by buying a used iPhone 3 for a few dollars and using a short term prepaid arrangement?

Or is the iPhone 3 so out-of-date that it would really be a waste of money and time?

I am somewhat reluctant to shell out $500-$600 just to see what it is like.
