[apple-iphone] Re:External handheld wired mic for Iphone 5

I've just purchased the very inexpensive and shockingly good Audio Technica ATR2100-USB. The sound is quite comparable to mics costing 3-5 times as much. It is a handheld mic. You'll need the Lightning Camera Connection kit to connect to your iPhone 5. It also works with a computer via USB, has an XLR jack as well, built-in earphone jack for zero latency monitoring, and comes with a mini-tripod and a mic clip that can be used with the mini or with a regular mic stand. It even has the USB and the XLR cables. Sounds too good to be true in every way but it's true anyhow. Amazing bargain at just under $35 on Amazon. That's correct, no zeroes left out. There are tests online so you can hear for yourself and determine if the quality is what you need. I'd compare it to the Apogee Mic, which retails for $199 and then you have to buy the $60 or so accessory kit to get reasonable length cables! Note that the ATR is a dynamic mic, so it performs best when you hold it closer than you might need to for a condenser. If you're doing field work, this is a blessing as the off-axis rejection is impressive.
