Re: [apple-iphone] IOS Update Observation

Only use iTunes for a major update like iOS 6 to iOS 7. Minor updates are very small and can be done on the iPhone in minutes. I installed the 7.0.2 at McDonalds in about 10 minutes.

So, in your opinion Brent, which way is better for downloads and updates?

When you download from the device, you only get a very small patch. When you used iTunes, it reinstalls the whole several hundred MB of data.

Good Morning all,

Just an observation to post.  There was an update available this morning (7.0.2).

I plugged my iPhone 5 into iTunes, and started the download.  It said it would take 60 minutes.

Then I got my husband's and my iPads and started the downloads on them – one at a time and not plugged into iTunes.

The two iPads were completely finished with the updates before iTunes had finished downloading the updates.

It took about 10 minutes to do 2 iPads, and an hour and 20 minutes to update my phone through iTunes.

And I thought iTunes was supposed to be faster.  LOL

Janet
