Google will sync quite nicely with the native iPhone calendar. I'm actually
using CompanioonLink to sync my outlook 2007 calendar with Google and then
Google syncs with the iPhone calendar. Works seamlessly in both directions.
you should be able to sync your GMail with your iPhone in addition to having
it on your hard drive.

I have been using my iPhone with Outlook for contacts, email, and
scheduling. I am switching to Gmail & Google Calendar (assuming I can get
the wrinkles straightened out). Does anyone have any experience with this?
I am using the app CalenMob to syncronize my iPhone schule with the Google
Calendar and it seems to work okay. Althought the schedule in my iPhone
only runs through CalenMob and not the native I phone Calendar app. Is
there a way to have the appointments show up there also? I major concern
does not really affect my iPhone but when I was getting my email through
Outlook all the email got save to my hard drive and I could reference it
even if I didn't have a web connection at the time. Is there anyway to
download all my Gmail email so it would be on my hard drive also if I needed
it in an area with no internet service? Any help would be greatly
appreciated.
I realized the much of this does not have anything to with the iPhone
directly but I was hoping that someone has had a similar experience.
