It would be helpful if you tell us your OS version. There is a known issue with some iOS 6 devices that either gray out the WiFi switch or can't detect any wifi signal. My step mom's 4S is had the first one a few weeks ago and now, the latter. She's too lazy to take it in for repair/replacement because her 3G signal is always strong anyway. But that's what I recommend you to do.

I am not able to activate the bluetooth and wifi on my iphone 4S. It was ok until yesterday. Today my car blutooth is not able to catch my phone and when I checked, the wifi is also not possible to activate.
