Yeah, the satellite view on google maps shows the vehicles on the street at about twice the size it previously did. To the point that a 24" flower pot and its shadow are distinguishable, by the pool, if you knew what they were. The shadows make it harder to identify larger items in my apartment backyard. (I miss seeing my utility trailer in the parking lot, and my pick up driving off in front of the apartments.)

Google Maps has been continually updating photographic views -- often moving from relatively low-resolution satellite images to higher-resolution aerial ones.
Their "satellite" view of my place shows the 3 solar hot-water panels on the roof that were installed in July 2010, and was taken at mid-day in the summer or early fall. You can easily make out doghouses, the car windshield, and features less than 1 foot across.
Bing maps, on the other hand, show a slightly lower-resolution view, but one taken after September 2011, when the solar electric panels were installed
