I just signed up to the group Rich created and there's a subscription options section where you can set how you get messages, with individual messages, full featured digest, plain digest, daily summary, special notices, and no email as options. I'm with you, I don't like digests or having to remember to visit a site, but it looks like groups.io will work as we want.
