Just upgraded from 10.6.8 to Yosemite How do I synch and backup my iPhone and iPad?
I cannot find them in iTunes.

I cable-sync, not Wifi-sync.
Plug in the cable to the iDevice and into the USB port.
In a minute or so you can click on the iDevices icon in the top row.
The usual collection of choices is then visible:
