His backup in iTunes is ENCRYTED and he can't access the backup because he doesn't know the original password from when he installed iTunes on his PC. How does he get today's encrypted backup back into his phone?
The REASON for an encrypted backup is so that it is completely inaccessible to anyone who does not know the password.
