If you are a world traveler the 4 and 4S are better world phones than the 5. The AT&T GSM 4 and 4S are quad-band phones and just works nearly everywhere in the world. The Verizon CDMA phone has a quad-band GSM radio and roams nicely overseas also. There are three versions of the iPhone 5 with different radio configurations, none of which include quad-band GSM. Further LTE doesn't roam reliably on any of the three iPhone 5 models, again due to fracturing of the band plans.
If you carry your phone in a shirt pocket the taller 5 is more likely to topple out of your pocket which may be a particular problem around boats, docks, and toilets.
Absent those two issues (both of which are a problem for me and keep me using my iPhone 4) the iPhone 5 is in my opinion a better phone.
best, dave
