Spotlight is OS X. We're talking about iOS, which does not have Spotlight.

All good points. Last time, there was an issue, well not an issue as it was planned, that Spotlight does a full reindex, which causes high CPU usage and thus battery drain, but its a one off post update action.

I doubt that iOS 9 causes worse battery life, or faster battery discharge.
