I had the issue with battery life and running hot. All resolved when I reset network settings. Also on my iPad Air which is wifi and unused cellular the cellular connection was switched on after the update. There was a whirling circle indicating ( I think) it was trying to connect endlessly. I shut cellular off in settings and all is well.
