High contrast etc can cause headaches, but while that can exist in iOS7 it exists everywhere. Laptop screen and colours, TV set and colours, being outside on a sunny day.
The parallax is very minimal, Id like it more animated. That can be turned off/down

I see users wanting and looking forward to a new update, then many complaining
I wonder:
A) How many of those that complained actually made an effort to customise the colours/contrast first? Many many responses here on how to do that
B) How many want an update but with no or minimal changes?
I was bummed with the colourways and contrast, but I made changes to wallpaper, bold text, you can turn off parallax, you can turn of the transparency, you can change the size of the fonts. IMO there are enough options there to have it all or not, or midway.

With apologies to Jim.
Sorry, I disagree, and the article is incorrect, quote,
"Just had a long chat with Apple support," one disgruntled user said on the Apple forums. "Apparently there is no way to turn off animations."
Just change the wallpaper. And if that little bit of parallax makes the person nauseous, I would hate to see them cross a busy road.
Consider the source of the article, yahoo & Rob Waugh, a writer for a gossip rag in the UK. He doesn't even write a tech column.
