I don't consider this a problem because I never turn my phone off. Why do you find the need to turn yours off?

Ever since I upgraded my iPhone X to 12.1.1, if I power down it will no longer power back up unless I hold th side button about 5 seconds. Before the upgrade it took just a tap of the side button to power back up. I panicked after the update when my phone would not power up as usual. I thought it was broken!  Has anyone else experience this and is ther a solution other than waiting until the next upgrade?
