[apple-iphone] Problems with syncing photos

 

First time ever I have a problem with using ITunes to backup and sync.
Yesterday I updated iTunes to the latest and greatest(12.7.4) Today I tried to sync my iPhone and iPad Pro to my windows 10 computer. I can backup and the sync proceeds until the reading from Pictures step. It hangs there for now about 15 minutes. I hadn't updated the phone or iPad to 11.3

Thinking not updating the devices may be the issue I updated to 11.3 on both devices. Both hang at step 5 of 6 - the reading photos from pictures.

Does anyone have advice on correcting this issue.

I did a google search and got to Apple communities where another user today had the same problem. I clicked the "I have the same problem" There was no answer at this time.
