Hi Cyndi - it is both WiFi and cellular although I haven't activated the cellular. That may be it. The X may switch from one to the other and disconnect. A good possibility. I may try the vpn on my husbands 6s+ and see if that is it. 

Although at home strictly on WiFi it still disconnects unpredictably.

Try changing remote on tv/satellite and land line remote phones to different wireless channel if you can. I don't know if the iPhone offer th capibility to change.
