I don't talk to my devices. No need for others to hear my emails or texts responses. On my iPhone and iPad I've installed GBoard. It allows me to swipe text. Much faster for me than taking out each letter.

Narrow doesn't help me at all. I can't use my iPhone 8 Plus in landscape mode for texting because the keyboard takes up most of the space. I really like the 4:3 size (I believe it's the size) of my iPad mini because I can and mostly do use it in landscape. I wish I could on the iPhone. It wouldn't seem so tall.
