Re: [apple-iphone] Question about open vpn

I use it in public places. And now to help lessen the tracking that my internet provider can do. Really nothing to hide but tailored ads and creepy dataminers have led me to use a vpn more often than I used to.

I do exactly as you do - WiFi then vpn. It really is just annoying rather than dangerous. I don't do finances over public WiFi. But I sure would like to be clearly notified when it drops. I wouldn't even have contacted the apps developer if the vpn icon was WHERE I COULD SEE IT AT ALL TIMES Just as I can on the iPad. A glance up and I know I am connected. Now it is a gesture and trying to remember to check all the time. When I first connect the icon appears in the upper right corner big and bold. So nice.. Then it disappears and the battery, signal strength and WiFi appear. There should be an option to put an icon up there instead of what is default. I did post in the Apple feedback about it too.

My home WiFi is wpa2 encrypted with firewall enabled. But thanks for the reminder about home security. So important.
