If you are in an area that does not have good WiFi coverage, turn it off, or if you need to increase the time between recharges.
I often work on construction sites out in the middle of nowhere. Not only may there not be any WiFi, there is often very poor cellular signal or none at all. If I want my iPhone to hold a charge all day, I turn off the WiFi and if I can, I turn off the iPhone. Otherwise I need to look at recharging through the day or at a external battery.
Another thing to look at is you only get so many recharges on your cell phone battery. I generally am able to keep you cell phones for 3 or more years, so if I don't want to have to replace the battery, I have to look at slowing down the battery drain, so I don't use up the recharges.
