Re: [apple-iphone] WWDC Keynote

1)  Alice, your message seems corrupted, by using a predictive keyboard presumably. I'm guessing what you meant.

2)  I hardly use Files. I'm using
• Documents (by Readdle): a viewer that can have multiple files open in tabs;
• FileBrowser (by Stratospherix): a file manager with tabs as "bookmarks" for quickly switching;
• iFiles 2 (by Imagam): a file manager featuring batch renaming.
All these can handle cloud servers.
(I have more file managers, so I may change habits. My dream file manager is Total Commander (for Windows) with some of its plug-ins.)

3)  I seldom use split screens. I tend to maximize windows on every device, except my iMac.

4)  I don't see the relation between dark mode and photos. The three-legged dog to me seems a case or either shooting the photograph without HDR where that (High Dynamic Range) would have been useful or editing the picture. I haven't used my graphics apps yet for the purpose of making the foreground stand out better, but I fancy I could use many on my iOS devices.

I'm with you Chris. I think having a mouse with an iPad is a step back. Weekday is Apple doing? Trying to build another type of Mac? The iPad doesn't need a mouse. If a user wants to use a mouse, buy a MacBook.

I'm also with you on download size. I jumped for joy when I heard download sizes will be smaller. That's a significant upgrade..

Like you, most of my files are in the cloud, so I use Files wife a bit.. I like the way Files work today. I don't need window after window showing the path of my files subfolders. The way Files works now is good for me. I haven't seen the New Files app yet. I may have a different opinion once I see it.

iTunes didn't phase me. I use my iPhone and iPad most. I don't use iTunes on my Mac mini except for streaming to my ATV. Having 3 apps instead of 1 iTunes might make things run faster though. If I could give up my Mac mini completely, I would.

I wonder about split screen. I have used Safari in split screen with different websites up. I haven't tried it with any other app. If it works now, I wonder why Apple would make such a big deal out of it like it was a new feature.

Dark mode is something I've looked forward to on my iPad since I used it on my Mac. It's going to work out well for me.

Being able to choose how dark I want portrait mode background will be good too. I took a photo of my little Chihuahua in portrait mode and she came out with 3 legs. Being able to lighten the background a little would have brought out her 4th leg a bit.

One other thing I'm looking forward to trying out is the logging into websites with a one time use Apple generated email addy.

Since Apple has previewed a couple things and then they never materialized, I've been a bit sceptical towards Apple. I'm hoping everything will materialize as shown in the keynote. As you can tell, there's lots I'm looking forward to.

Anyone else have their favorite features they're looking forward to?

I didn't watch anything WWDC. Judging from others' news, I can hardly wait to have iOS 13 installed, particularly on my iPads.

My greatest joy may seem strange: the optional lifting of the download size using mobile connections. I only have mobile connections,  so there currently is some silliness involved.

My smallest joy, rather an annoyance, may seem even stranger: mouse support in iPadOS. Some Dutch website went hurray! about it, and my comment started with (translated): "Hurray! We can now use horses to draw our cars."

I'm curious to see how the Files app turns out: whether the path to local data files will be actually changed (to something more usual in Linux) or whether these files will stay in their current paths but will be /presented/ in a more logical way.
I don't care too much, though, as I have most of my data in the cloud anyway.

How about you, Alice and others?  :-)

Did anyone watching the Keynote? What do you think of iOS 13 from what you've learned so far?
