What you are saying makes sense to me but...
I just did two more syncs first confirming that the analytics were turned off on the iPhone 5.
First sync it was connected to my iMac with the lightening cord. It still copied the diagnostic information but only took a few seconds which is acceptable for me.
Second sync was done to see what would happen if the sync was done over the air. It took a good while to copy the diagnostics. I didn't time it.
Then I turned off the iPhone for a minute. Then did another over the air sync in which the copying of the diagnostics took about a minute and twenty seconds.
Next was a reboot and the over the air sync took one minute and 37 seconds.
Thanks,
Bobby

Bobby, if the analytics were on after a sync, wouldn't it write a report, before you turned it off? Then the next time you sync it would sync the last report. Right?

Pat,
Thanks for your
response.
I followed your
suggestion and turned off analytics.
However, when I did a
sync this evening it still copied the diagnostic info. I
checked the phone again and analytics are still off. Out of
curiosity I did another sync and it did not copy the
analytics that time.
I probably will not do
another sync with this phone until Friday. We will see
what happens.
FWIW, my iTunes does not
always play well with my other phone an iPhone6+ when doing
a sync. In those instances it does not add the music that I
want but keeps that which was deleted. Maybe once or twice a
month that happens. I usually change some of my music 6 days
a week. I say music but they are really audio discussions
that are mp3 files.

Can I turn it off?
