Yes, they do, but many prefer to remove the card and import from that. It might even be quicker, especially if the camera is a few years old.

Didn't your Cannon come with a cord that plugs into your camera and has a USB connector on the other end? Then, if using a Mac, you use image capture to get the photos off your camera.
