I, too, like the sidebar. I find it an easy way to navigate to what I want to do. If it is truly gone this time, then I guess we have to learn another way.
I will second whoever said, "I wish Apple would give us a cheat sheet, to the new changes." Granted, there are books out there, but that does not seem much like the old Apple way.
