Re: [apple-iphone] iPhone Prices

Any phone you buy from a carrier is a discounted subsidized price when you sign a contract.

Maybe I am crazy but I have a problem with the way that cell phone prices are stated...

$199, $99, FREE...

Even on the Apple web site they show the lower prices...

but if you try to actually get one for the stated "price", you cannot have it.

The REAL prices are $649, $699, $799 or numbers in that range...

If you actually get out of the door with one of the "lower prices", you have paid a small part of the price, but the carrier has paid the rest of it, and they are going to take it back from you month by month...

But buyers keep saying that they bought for the lower subsidized prices... kind of like saying "I bought a new Chevrolet for five hundred dollars", but not mentioning the five year installment payment contract...
